A new year just started, obviously we managed to survive the end of the world. I would like to start this year with this famous quote from Margaret Thatcher, a person I highly admire. One of her famous quotes is going to be my mantra for 2013 :
“Watch your thoughts for they become words. Watch your words for they become actions. Watch your actions for they become… habits. Watch your habits, for they become your character. And watch your character, for it becomes your destiny! What we think we become.” – Margaret Thatcher
The year 2012 was really hard for my business, things got much tougher than I expected. I made tons of wrong decisions, mistakes, failures, lost money… However, I am still in good health and I learnt a lot from my mistakes. No regret as they are useless and won’t change things for the better.
Entrepreneurship can really make you feel miserable sometimes and being able to control your emotions and thoughts is crucial in such moments. Negative thoughts are your worst enemy as they can effectively sabotage your own success. If you want to be an entrepreneur, I guess you have to leave your pessimistic thoughts in the locker room. This may sound common sense, but we all tend to forget it from time to time when having a bad day.
It is often easy to blame the economy, the job market, competition from China, the fiscal environment, a bad hire or whatever. One thing is sure: this year, I will not let any of these thoughts interfere with my mood. Eventually, we are all responsible for our own condition.
Hence this quote from Margaret Thatcher as I believe that nothing is truer: Changing yourself and your habits start with controlling your thoughts.
I wish you all a great & successful year 2013 !
